LOCAL
THe indiana commision of local government has recommended that the sherrifs position be an appointed position. This is a very controversial topic. Sherrif Ron Richardson said that he does not agree with making the postion an appointed position and that be believes that the people should be abale to vote on a position that includes a lot of intergrity. Most say they agree with the election process of the sherrif, because if the sherrif is not doing their job they are then voted out. For most counties the sherrifs race is the highest vote getter.

STATE
Governor Mitch Daniels had a hernia removed on Friday. The 58 year old governor's surgery was successful and he returned to his h ome on Friday. The innjury came because of years of hard stress and damage done to his body. He decided that now was a good time to have the hernia removed. He gave a speech Friday morning before his surgery. He is known as a runner and someone who works out regurlary. He is up for re-election for a seond term as Governor.

NATIONAL
Former Democrat Joe Liberman, now independent has announced that he is backing Jon McCain for president. Liberman said that being a democrat is important and that beging a republican is important but the well being of the united states is most important. He said that he believes that McCain is the most capable for the job. Lieberman inisisted that he is not endorsing the entire republican party just the candidate. Although Lieberman identifies himself as an independent hje still caucus' with the Democrats which gives them a slight majority. Lieberman did not intend to endorse anyone until after the primary, but after he and McCain returned from their thanksgiving trip to Iraq together he decided to endorse McCain.

WORLD
Russia has begun fuel deliveries to an atomic power station in Iran. It has been at the center of international concerns over Tehran's nuclear program. The monopoly is buliding a $1 billion Bushehr plant under the control of the IAEA. Iran denies this program is intened for naything but peace. The fuel is being delivered to Iran about six months ahead of time. The delivery process will take place over two stages of about 2 months the first stage was complete today. The UN has demanded that Iran suspend enrichment of uranium. The UN said there has been some progress made with Iran and the IAEA.

IRAQ
Iraq's government disbatched a team to survery northern Iraq where turckish jets bombarded jets thought to be turkish separists liars. There was concern that civilians may have been caught in the cross fire. Early sunday warplanes attacked the rebels in teh mountains. All warplanes returned safely to their posts in Turkey. The strkes started at 2 am and lasted 2 hours. The strike was condemned by Iraqi officials. The United States, the Iraqi government and the Kurdish Regional Government had begun diplomatic efforts over the past two months to keep Turkey from launching an offensive against the PKK.

HEALTH
New Jersey announced on friday that it is making the flu shot mandatory througout the state. A health advisory board backed the decision. Although most believe this is a good decision some people say that they do not want the government making decisions about their health. Starting in septemeber all children in a day care or a preschool are required to get a mandatory flu shot.

LOCAL







The number of deaths caused by overdose in Madison County has doubled between 2001 and 2005. Richie Richardson died in 2006 from an overdose of 5 methadone pills he bought for 2 dollars each. He was already on probation for marjuana use, but had been clean for a while. His parents name peer pressure as one of the causes of the overdose. One reason stated that the number is so high is that kids have easy access to drugs. The Richardson's hope that their son's death will help to raise awareness of drugs and that dangers they hold.
STATE







A vigil was held for Congress woman Julia Carson. About 200 people showed up at her home for the candle light vigil. At the vigil Carson spoke of standing up for what you believe in, even if you are standing alone. She later said that she was touched that so many people showed up for the event. Carson announced last week that she would not be running for a seventh term for congress. She was admitted into the Hospital for leg pain, and was later found to have terminal lung cancer.
NATIONAL







Drew Peterson is denying the allegations that on the day of his wife's dissappearance he stopped a semi adn asked them to haul a package for him. The truck drivers described Peterson and said that the man was with another man adn they asked them to take the package to an undisclosed destination. Peterson is accused of murdering his fourth wife, Stacy, who was last seen on October 28. His third wife's death is also under invertigation, she was found drown in the bathtub. Drew and Stacy have two children.
WORLD





President Bush announced that faith is the key to fighting AIDS. He said that faith-based groups are the "soldiers in the army of comapssion." Bush is asking Congress for another $15 billion to continue the AIDS relief fund. Bush said that the program has targeted more than 1.3 million people. A giant red ribion was hung from teh White House to represent the contuining battle agaisnt AIDS.
ELECTION





Sen. Barack Obama was speaking to a group of people in Harlem where he brought up the issue of racism. He said that he could not believe that hanging nooses that Jena SIx cases were still found in America today. He said that if elected president he could be counted on to inforce civil rights laws. He spoke of many other racial issues and said that he could not immagine living under another administration that cared little of civil rights. He also said that he would not want another four years to go by and still have more black men in jail then in college.
TECHNOLOGY




London has released the worlds first toilet finder. SatLav is a new system that helps people to be able to find the closest toilet to them at any time. You must simply text the word "toilet" on your cell phone and a text message will be sent back with teh locatation on the closest toilet. Each text message cost about 50 cents, however, all of teh toilet facilities are free in Westminster. The signal strength is measured to determine where you are. The reason behind this new system is to cut down on people urinating in the streets.
BUSINESS
Dell announced friday that it would partner with advertising firm WPP Group PLC. This would create a new marketing agency that would handle 4.5 billion dollars in Dell accounts over the next three years. Dell has had a rough year after losing their number 1 spot to HP after having to recall betteries for notebooks. Dell's advertising is spread throughout 800 different companies and is making world-changing advances in teh management of the supply chain. Dell has said they will work together as one team to make Dell's products better for all people.

HEALTH
After attending her friends funeral, who had just undergone gasteric bypass surgery and had died of a blood clot, Patty Hill decided she needed to chnage her life. She was due to undergo gastric bypass surgery in mere weeks, but then promised her family that she would not go ahead with the surgery. Hill feared for her life because she weighed 280 pounds. She then taled to her doctor about gastric banding. A band is placed around your waist and restict the amount of food that the stomach can hold. She innitially wore a size 26 or 28 before her surgery. She dropped 20 pounds in the first month and continued to drop 10 to 15 pounds each month. Hill has lost 140 and is much happier and healthier.

IRAQ
In November, the number of civilian deaths in Iraq dropped. Also, fewer fighters entered Iraq from neighboring countries. Both of these facts look favorable about the state of war in Iraq. Fewer weapons entered Iraq and fewer fighters entered Iraq in November. This is the lowest month of deaths since December 2006. It is being said that some additional responsibility is being taken with their own internal security measures. There has been a decline in activity and there is hope that Iraq has stopped supplying these extremist groups.

SPORTS
Tim Duncan injured himself on Sunday in a game against the TRail Blazers. Tim Duncan is the star player and had already scored 28 points in the game. The injury looked bad at first but now does not appear to be season ending. He bruised his right knee and sprained his right ankle. He said he slipped during the first half of the game and hurt his knee. The team said this was a scare because he is the star player. The Spurs continued with their lead even without Duncan in the game.

LOCAL
Anderson City Councilman Rick Muir was injuered in a car accident Thursday night. The accident took place in Pendleton, where his car was rearened. He was air lifted to Methodist Hospital. While at Methodist Hospital, a benign tumor was found. They will be opporating sometime after Thanksgiving. He is currently at home and reseting.

ELECTION
Mayor-elect Kris Ockomonhas named his first appointments to his administration. His first appointment was Greg Graham as Chairman of the BOard of Works. Also, TIm LAnane was named as City Attorney. Those were postions that needed to be filled fairly quickly. Graham is currently Homeless Administator for ANderson. A transition team has been put together inlcuding Terri Austin and Scott Reske. Also, Threasa Spenser joins the Ockomon administartion. All employees have been talking witht he current employees to help them do a better job.

STATE
A man from Southern Indiana was thrown off of his motor-cycle when he hit a deer. When he was thrown from the motor-cycle he was thrown in to an on coming car and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was west bound on interstate 64. The accident was 15 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky. He was 43 years old.

LOCAL
A man who was sentenced to 80 years in prison in 1996, released a letter claiming he is going to kill all the Madison County Superior Court Judges. He was sentenced to 80 years by Judge Fred Spencer for attempted murder. He robbed a liquor store in 1996, where he was alomsot killed during the process. His letter read that he intended to break out of prison and killed the judges with a sniper rifle. Some of the jusged who were named were, Judge Carroll, and Judge Clem. While taking this eriously none of the judges are too worried about the situation.

Two muncie fire fighters rescued an 8 month old baby. The two fire fighters rushed into the house without back up and came out with the baby. An 18 year old woman was found dead by the back door. There were six people in the house at the time, but the 18 year old was the only one killed or injured. The cause of the fire was due to the stove, which was being used to heat the house. The elctricity had been shut off in the house.

Experts are saying the local mayoral elction is too close to call. Mayor Kevin Smith and Democrat Kris Ockomon are getting closer and closer in the polls. Each candidates also has certian factors that will hurt them. Mayor Smith has the nation wide hurt of the Republican party working against him and also the delay of the property taxes that will hurt him. Kris Ockomon also has the independent and write-in candidates that will hurt him. The candidates will most likely take votes away from him.

Researchers have found a link between the numbers of hours children watch tv and high blood pressure. It was found that children who watch four or more hours of tv also have high blood pressure. Other studies have found a link between the numbers of hours children watch tv and obesity, but this is the first study showing a relationship between high blood pressure and the number of hours and child pends in from of a tv. Although, this does come as no surprise, since children who are overweight, tend to also have high blood pressure.

Rummers surrounding Kmart said that they had agreed to only sell HD-DVD formatted products. However, this is false. Kmart was rather offended by this rummor and when asked to comment said they said these rummons were false. Kmart will not only be selling HD-DVD platforms, but also carrying the Blu-ray platforms. Kmart sells all HD-DVD players, but also sells the Play Station 3, which has a Blu-ray player embedded inside of it.

Apple is now considering the possibility of bluetooth. Apple has steered clear of bluetooth, unlike most mp3 players because of many logical reasons. ipod's are the leading product is mp3 players. Apple makes lots of money off of the ipod, and also out of the accessories. When someone buys an ipod, they then tend to buy the ipod dock, or other accessories, such as a way to hook your ipod up to your car. Also, many manufacturers pays lots of money to market their products as ipod ready. However, Apple is beginning to look into possibly adding bluetooth.

An eighth grader may have to stay in Mexico after he and his math teacher, whom he was having an intimate relationship with, fled. The thirteen year old and his 25 year old math teacher decided to flee to Mexico after word came out that they were having an intimate relationship. However, after being found, the teacher was taken into custody by the FBI and the boy was told to remain in Mexico. The boy was an illegal immigrant, and because of his immigration status, has not been allowed back into the states. He has been contacted by family in his town of Nebraska and is said to be doing fine, and with family in Mexico.

The deathtoll is rising in Southern Mexico because of the raise of floods. The death toll rose to eight on Saturday, because rescuers failed to save people on top of their homes, and bring aid to those protecting their homes. Seven people were found earlier this week, and were thought to have been swept away by rivers. Also, in the city of Tabasco one man died earlier this week, and it is 80% convered in water. Emergency shelters have been put in place, however many people are attempting to leave the state.

The dealth toll in Iraq for US military will most likely reach the highest it has been sinc the start of the war rhis year. At least 847 military personell have died this year alone in Iraq. This is the second highest toll since the war began, and there are two more months left in 2007. Over 56 Iraqi's have died each day in Iraq in 2007. At least 1,023 Iraqis died in the month of december alone.

Bengals reciever Chad Johnson is fine after medical tests showed that he sustained no damage to his neck after being hurt in the game agaisnt the Buffalo. Johnson was hurt while attempting to make a diving catch. He was sent to the hostpital immediatly after he was hurt and recieved test immediatly. He is currenlty able to move his arms and neck, but will continue the next stage of his rehabilitaion in Houston. HE finsihed that game with three cathces, for 48 yrds.
